Hallo - I am trying to understand what my favourite singer, Udo Jürgens, is saying when he talks to the audience between songs. This short piece of audio (no downloading is required) has four separate bits of talking.

I'd love to have a good translation so if you can help - vielen Dank.

(The first clip is from the song Ich war noch niemals in New York where Udo always includes a joke about a terrible TV show of the time.)

Und ging wie slebstverständlich Heim
Durchs Treppenhaus mit Bohnerwachs und Spießigkeit
Die Frau rief "Mann, wo bleibst du bloß? Superstar mit Dieter Bohlen geht gleich los!"
Sie fragte "War was?"
Nein, was soll schon sein?

Translation:
And of course, I went home
Through the staircase with Bohnerwachs* and stuffiness
The wife called "Husband, where are you? Superstar with Dieter Bohlen will be on soon!"
She asked, "Was something off?"
No, what should be?

Danke, vielen herzlichen Dank. Ich möchte Ihnen meine Freunde hier auch aus der Nähe vorstellen:
Das Orchester Pepe Lienhard

Translation:
Thank you, thank you very much. I want to introduce my friends to you from close by:
The Pepe Lienhard Orchestra

Warum nur? Warum... hab ich in meinem Leben nur so viele Lieder geschrieben, dass wir Alle heute abend natürlich nicht mehr schaffen, da müssen wir noch zwei Stunen hier bleiben.

Translation:
Oh, why? Why... have I written so many songs in my life, so that, of course, we cannot listen to them all today, for that we would have to stay another two hours.

Liebe Freunde, ich danke Ihnen! Es war ein schöner Abend, vielen herlzichen Dank, kommen Sie gut nach hause, bleiben sie gesund, fahren Sie vorsichtig. Und ein herzliches Servus!

Translation:
My dear friends, I want to thank you! It was a beautiful evening, thank you very much, get home safe, stay healthy, drive carefully. And a warm-heatedly Servus**

*Bohnerwachs: a type of polishing wax used on flat surfaces
**Servus: A word for greeting or parting, similar to the Italian "Ciao", typically (but not exclusively) used in southern regions of Germany

Thank you, Luca. With regard to:
Sie fragte "War was?"
Nein, was soll schon sein?
the transcription isn't what we would say in Britain. The translation websites are not very helpful with the phrases 'war was' and 'was soll schon sein' and so my best suggestion would be:
something wrong? / did something happen / is there a problem?
no, what could possibly be wrong?

Thank you once again.

Hi - a very small section has been missed where Udo says something like "vielen sie dank ...". Could someone tell me what this is please? Thank you.

You're welcome. Yes, your translations are as good as these phrases can be translated.
