Hi, guys. Lately I've been intersted in astral projection. And I wonder whether you guys have ever performed astral projection or you'd like to perform it

I've got a lot of publications on the subject - I've had some OBEs (spontaneous ones) - and I'm quite certain I've visited places in my astral body. Most of the projections though occur as I have mentioned quite spontaneously and not induced deliberately. What are your experiences?

It's not performance. It's a state of mind brought on by the clarity of meditation where a state of thoughtlessness and selflessness bring about the separation of body and spirit. They can't be forced. No distractors, or distractions. It requires a clear mind without prejudices, concerns or wants. This is more part of a way of life though, not just an episode.
True solitude is often the starting block. You must learn yourself. I know that sounds esoteric, but it's not. Most people do not know themselves and their place in the universe. That concept is applicable to all beliefs and is essential to anyone.
An example; A huge bank of clouds that looks as though a fantasy world of another dimension is a parallel. Relax looking deep into them, but not directly at them with your mind (not focusing on any one), let thoughts flow like water freely and see the worlds that will come of their own consequence (in your mind). An experience that will carry you in life and give you an idea of the thing you seek. If you like stars at night, there's another thought. Lay down (or sit), look up, relax your being, let it happen. Don't worry about philosophy, or rules. Be patient...you may be amazed Regular smile

Never as such...but back when I used to do a lot of Yoga I used to find my mind going to some very strange places during the meditative stages. I guess just try meditation and see where it takes you.

Relax switch off your mind and float downstream Regular smile

Martial arts maybe? Because real ones teach discipline of the mind and self.
Mountaineering solo was often my greatest experience. A self actualization time when exhaustion, hunger, and ego were lost.

Don't over think it. It's a natural thing that is simple and lies within yourself. Do not control your thoughts. They must flow through you (not in and out) and just like not thinking about breathing throughout your life the clarity will come (you must be patient). Like a pitcher full of concerns that needs to empty out. (See what I mean?) Don't think because it doesn't occur immediately that you failed. Each person has their own way. No electronic devices to interrupt, or to make you think they will. Understand? All distractions gone. Breathing deeply and unlaboured. Sometimes that too must be relearned.

This might make you laugh but it works for me. When I close my eyes I focus (sort of) on the lights. Created lights by optic nerve impulses/stimuli etc.. Then look into, and beyond them. Their pastel gives a entryway beyond the concrete world. (no drugs here). Images may come and, thoughts too may pass by. The actual time may be short, the felt time long. Don't be fearful or apprehensive. There is no reason to be. You will see that with patience. There are many avenues to the experience you seek. I will tell you, it will change your perception of many things in a positive way.

You're absolutely right! Yeah I heard that it changed people's perception. How was your experience? How did you feel?

There are many things that occur in life that teach you the importance of things and the priorities that are real or not. Sometimes by being a part of things and realizing you are not the center, omnipotent, or held to daily needs and rituals you see the difference between life being mere survival and something more. It is troublesome to me that people can live their entire lives without knowing anything outside of basic self wants, (themselves). Like education it doesn't end one day and the rest is just stagnate. There are always new horizons. If you lose the world and it's clamor for a while it always calms your mind, your stressors fade, and you gain an insight not often known and untouchable.

The past tense is the present tense. Once you learn to ride a horse, you want to ride often. Not to be the master of the animal and the temporal needs, but to live the beauty of the motions in unison and the shared experience of the moment between living beings. You will be more respectful of the horse and your actions as a result. You may find no whip is needed because you have learned there are other ways in your place amongst it all. Remember though...there are still jackasses out there Regular smile

Above the clouds on a mountain the sun afar and not blinding. A world visible afar not of this world. A gateway where a clear mind can go as far as it's wishes, as overwhelming. Over a blanket of clouds that look to be easily tread upon. No sharp angles, no details, no people, you are beyond you. Many different ways to go, many different directions. Lapping water at the shore, another good way to explore. Simple things we all take for granted that give us solace. Away from humanity, away from the drone of daily distractions.

Wow. What an interesting thread. It is very enlightening to get to read your experiences and thoughts on the subject. I am very interested in the spiritual as well, I also practise meditation and I am quite in touch with nature and the spirits of my ancestors. However, no matter how disciplined one is, it is very hard to let go of greed, stress, worry, earthly desires, for these are what ultimately makes us human.

Therefore, I will have to agree with the others before me; it has to happen naturally. I am not one to give advice, since I am still learning and trying to expand my knowledge and awareness of the One, as one. But if there is something I know, is that you can't force anything. The moment will come when the time is right, when you most need it, not when you most want it.

May you all be blessed, always.

Well, there is one thing I want to ask.
From some Turkish and Azerbaijani sources (internet sources), I've read that you might meet some supernatural beings (in Muslim ideology, the devils/demons do exist), when you perform astral projection. Though I imagine, that's just because of what we believe and what we're afriad of, and I don't belive it as I'm not someone religious, but I wanted to ask whether you're familiar to these things..

My interpretation of that is that there are some dark corners of your own mind that can make themselves known when you are in an impressionable state. Those more drawn to the mystic might interpret these as demons.
As you suggest, I think to a degree we encounter what we expect to encounter. The more you can clear your mind of preconceptions the better. Regular smile

Besides, meditation is known to have healing properties. How will you battle your demons if you do not come face to face with them?

Edit: A "daemon" is not necessarily an evil entity. In Ancient Greek philosophy, it represents a deity within you, like a guardian angel that protects you, a personified conscience if you will.

As I said, I don't believe in them, but I wanted to know whether there are such things in your sources, too ?

It depends on what you been by "sources". I do not believe in demons or ghosts the way Christian folklore presents them. (although it fascinates me)

If you are asking about the Ancient Greek perception of a "daemon", then yes, I do believe in one's conscience, but there is no need for a strictly spititual explanation for that.
